Meet the Reese Family!

What type of school environment are your children currently in?

Skylar Reese – Charter School

Please share your current model of schooling and some of the reasons why you chose it.

Arizona Agribusiness and Equine Charter School. We chose AAEC because they meet my daughters learning needs. I discussed her accelerated needs and reviewed her transcripts and the testing done at EMCC and they made it happen. She is currently in four high school classes and three college classes. When she graduates she will have her associates degree and her high school diploma.

Why do you feel this model of schooling best meets the needs of your children? How have you seen them grow and thrive in these environments?

When you have a gifted child, they require an accelerated course of study to keep them interested. She is enjoying school. My daughter is happy!

How do you feel living in Arizona and the school options you have in Arizona have helped your children in their academic and life pursuits?

I love all the options available in Arizona – you can find a school that best suits your child. We don’t have to settle for whatever school your child is assigned to. In Pennsylvania, we didn’t have these options. There your child attends the school in the district you reside in. If you don’t live in a good school district –  then you child doesn’t get a good education.

What do you love the best about your current school environment for your kids? What advice do you have for other families considering this option?

Research, research, research. Know your child and their needs. Make a list of what your child needs to succeed. Visit schools, ask questions, no one school is going to be an exact fit for every child. We have been lucky, AAEC is a great fit for my daughter.

Anything else about your school / education decisions that you would like to share or mention? Any other questions we didn’t ask?

You are you child’s best advocate. No one can make decisions about your child’s education better than you. Know what you want and go after it!
