Lower income families love school choice

Lower income families increasingly want expanded educational options for their kids. This comes as no surprise, as research continues to show that families from a variety of income and demographic backgrounds desire educational freedom. Additionally, the 2019 Schooling in America survey showed that families continue to express favorability for each school type, with the greatest support for Empowerment Scholarship Accounts.

Arizona families continue to access their educational options in greater numbers each year. The Arizona Empowerment Scholarship Account program continues to grow, and the Arizona Department of Education estimates the program will be above 8,000 participants by 2020. Thousands of kids find access to private schools in Arizona because of the Arizona Tuition Tax Credit program, administered by a variety of “STOs”. Still the majority of  Arizonans exercise their support of school choice through open enrollment between district schools as well as public-charter schools.

Like all families, Arizonans want what’s best for their children and their education. Kids shouldn’t be limited because of their income or zip code. Educational freedom in Arizona continues to be a winning issue, because families know that kids are unique and deserve to be in an educational environment in which they can thrive.
