Phone Number – 520-576-0427

How long has your school been open? – This is our ten year anniversary!

About how many children are served? – 150 students

What grades does your school currently offer? K – 12

How did your school begin, and what are some of the reasons it was started?

Veritas began when a few families first sent their children off to school. It didn’t feel right for them to have their children gone day and night doing school, sports, etc. They wanted more time with them so they could remain the primary influence in their lives and train them to love Christ and their neighbors. They discovered the University-Model when we found out about a school in Austin called Veritas Academy, and Veritas Academy of Tucson was born!

What types of students or communities does your school serve?

We serve Christian families from all over Tucson. We’re unique in Tucson, so people are willing to make the drive.

Why do you personally feel your school is a great option for Arizona families?

Veritas gives a great classical, Christian education while also allowing parents more time with their students.

What makes your school unique, and how do you meet the unique needs of your students?

We are a five-day-a-week school, but we train our parents as teachers so they can handle some of the class work at home, which allows them to retain their crucial role in their children’s lives.

What makes your school a place that teachers want to be at?

So often we hear of teachers longing for parents that are more involved in their students’ lives. Our teachers love partnering with parents that hold their responsibility in their children’s lives very seriously.

What types of scholarships or financial assistance do you offer families at your private school?

We are a private school, and many of our families use tax credits and Empowerment Scholarship Accounts to be able to afford this option for their family.

What does a day in the life of a typical student at your school look like?

We are called a University-Model school, because we build our schedule like a typical college. Students will have gaps in their days or week where they learn to take initiative in getting their work done without anyone telling them to. From a very young age we find that our students grow independent and responsible with their school work. This is a key skill not only for when they go off to college, but also in the work God gives them later in life.

What are some of the characteristics you would say describe the students / environment at your school?

We love the phrase from Horace ‘dulce et utile,’ which means ‘sweet and useful.’ This is the essence of the curriculum, our community and our students that we aim at. We hope our students not only learn the right things, but also learn to love the right things.

What is something you’d like to make sure we know about your school, or something that you would like prospective families to know?

If you ask a Veritas family what they love about Veritas, the answer is almost always ‘the community.’ There’s something special about a bunch of families and teachers joining together to make a school like Veritas.

Why do you feel that school choice / educational freedom is important for Arizona families?

School choice is SO important. There is no one-size-fits-all option, and we believe Arizona is doing all the right things to create an environment not only where the right options are available to help each family thrive, but also where families are able to make it work financially. The tax credit program and ESA program are critical to make this work.

What’s the best way for families to talk to someone if they are interested in your school? Who should they contact?
